Moving to Sohna Road, Gurgaon: the elevated road, metro and utilities

Reviewed by Anuradha GuptaLast updated How we collect our numbers

Short answer

Sohna Road runs from Rajiv Chowk past Badshahpur to Sohna, with a six-lane elevated highway above three-lane service roads for local traffic. A truck going to a society will usually use the service road. The new Gurugram metro is due to reach Subhash Chowk in 2028.

How is the road laid out?

The elevated highway runs from Rajiv Chowk to Badshahpur and on to Sohna; its full stretch opened in July 2022. Local traffic uses three-lane service roads on both sides. At Badshahpur the Southern Peripheral Road meets it and runs on to NH-48, and GMDA is building a 2 km road between Sectors 68 and 69 to the highway near Badshahpur.

What should I check before moving in?

Issue What was reported
Road cave-ins The highway caved in for the sixth time since 2023 in May 2026, near Subhash Chowk; officials linked it to a damaged sewer line under the road
Power cuts In August 2026 a cable fault left malls and societies on the road without power for over 48 hours
Waterlogging Sohna Road and Subhash Chowk are repeat hotspots in heavy rain

Ask the society whether it has power backup, and check recent news for barricades near your stretch before the moving date.

What should I know for moving day?

  1. Ask the mover which service-road entry it will use for your society; the elevated road has no stops.
  2. In townships such as Nirvana Country, Ardee City and Park View City, one mover says vehicles are registered at the gate and some internal lanes take only a smaller vehicle.
  3. Around Republic Day, traffic advisories have kept heavy and medium goods vehicles out of the city in set windows (in 2025, from 5 PM on 22 January to 1:30 PM on 23 January, and from 5 PM on 25 January to 1:30 PM on 26 January). If your move falls in late January, check the year’s advisory before you book.

Is there a metro?

Not yet. The new Gurugram metro’s first phase, from Millennium City Centre to Sector 9, includes stations at Sector 47, Subhash Chowk and Sector 48, and is due in 2028.

What do I set up after moving in?

  1. Electricity is supplied by DHBVN. To open a connection in your name, a tenant can use the rent deed as proof of occupancy; DHBVN acknowledges a complete application within 2 days and inspects within 7.
  2. Ask the society or landlord who supplies water. GMDA takes new water connections online only in areas under its jurisdiction, and runs a tanker booking for colonies its pipelines do not reach yet.
  3. Your landlord files the tenant police verification, and the rent agreement is stamped under Haryana rules.
