Gurgaon to Chandigarh movers: a same-day move, sector access and papers

Reviewed by Anuradha GuptaLast updated How we collect our numbers

Short answer

Gurgaon to Chandigarh is about 265 to 295 km up NH-44, so one mover we checked finishes a 1 BHK to 3 BHK the same day with a morning start. On arrival, the tenant verification is done online with Chandigarh Police, and a Haryana car is registered again through the Chandigarh R&LA.

Can the move finish in one day?

Source Distance Time stated
CratoShift (own page) about 265 km 4 to 5 hours on the road; same-day move
holidify 282 km (295 km via NH 44) 4 h 41 min to 5 h 15 min driving
TheTransporter (own page) 290 km “about 2 Days”, worded the same as its 40 km Noida page

CratoShift describes a day that leaves Gurgaon at 10:30 to 11 AM and reaches Chandigarh by 3 to 4 PM. It adds that a 4 BHK can run to 8 or 9 PM, and that in winter the last reassembly may be finished the next morning. So book a 4 BHK as a day and a half.

Can the truck reach my sector?

CratoShift says Chandigarh restricts goods vehicles on some inner sector roads, at some hours or to set approach roads, and names sectors 8, 9, 10 and 11. We found no official notice listing those roads, so ask the mover which approach it will use for your sector. CratoShift charges Mohali, Panchkula, Aerocity and New Chandigarh at the same rates, and says gated societies near the Mohali IT park want the vehicle registered in advance.

What paperwork follows in Chandigarh?

  1. Your landlord or you apply for tenant verification on the Chandigarh Police portal. It takes the tenant’s photo and ID, the owner’s ID and the owner’s proof of residence, and the service time is 15 days.
  2. Before you leave, get a Form 28 NOC for your car from its Gurugram registering authority.
  3. To register the car in Chandigarh, file it with the R&LA. The R&LA confirms the NOC with the issuing office, or waits 45 days from its notice. Then come a police report from Sector 17 and an inspection, and the RC arrives by Speed Post.
  4. The R&LA needs a Chandigarh address proof, so register the car once your rent agreement is in hand.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Gurgaon to Chandigarh move be done in a single day?

For most homes, yes. CratoShift publishes a same-day move for a 1 BHK to 3 BHK with a morning start; a 4 BHK can run late, and in winter some reassembly may wait for the next morning.

Can the truck drive up to my house in a Chandigarh sector?

Not always. One mover says Chandigarh limits goods vehicles on some inner sector roads to set approach roads or hours. We found no official list, so ask the mover how it will reach your sector.

How is tenant verification done in Chandigarh?

Online on the Chandigarh Police portal, or at the police station. It needs the tenant's photo and ID, the owner's ID and the owner's proof of residence, and the stated service time is 15 days.

Why can registering my Haryana car in Chandigarh take 45 days?

The Chandigarh R&LA first confirms your NOC with the office that issued it. If no confirmation comes, it proceeds 45 days after its notice, then asks for a police report and an inspection.
