Short answer

Gurgaon to Bangalore is one of the longest moves out of Gurgaon, and the movers we checked quote about 3 to 8 days in transit. Used household goods do not need an e-way bill, but the truck should still carry a delivery challan or packing list and the goods receipt.

How long does a Gurgaon to Bangalore move take?

Movers we checked publish different transit times for this route. Ask for the transit time in writing, and ask whether your goods travel in a dedicated truck or share a load, since a shared load waits for other consignments before it leaves.

Mover (own page) Transit stated
CratoShift 3 to 5 days after loading
BOXnMOVE a 3 to 4 day highway run
TheTransporter about 8 days

Movers name different highway corridors for this route, so the road your truck takes depends on the mover. It is a fair question to ask, along with where the truck stops overnight.

Do I need an e-way bill for my household goods?

No. Rule 138(14) of the CGST Rules says no e-way bill is needed for goods listed in its Annexure, and the Annexure lists “used personal and household effects”. The person in charge of the truck still carries papers for the goods: under rule 138A that is the invoice, bill of supply or delivery challan. For a home move, ask the mover which of these they issue, and keep the original goods receipt they give you.

What should I check before booking?

  1. Get the quote in writing, with the house size, the truck type (dedicated or shared) and what is included.
  2. Check the mover’s GST number on the GST portal and their name on e-Jagriti for consumer cases.
  3. Make sure you will get a goods receipt (lorry receipt) at loading, and keep the original.
  4. Declare the value of your goods in writing. Under the Carriage by Road Act it matters for any claim.
  5. If you are taking a car or bike, start the vehicle paperwork before you leave Haryana.

What papers should the truck carry at state borders?

Rule 138A of the CGST Rules says the person in charge of the truck carries the invoice, bill of supply or delivery challan. For a home move that is usually the delivery challan or packing list, along with the goods receipt the mover issues.

Can I move my car with my household goods?

Many movers carry cars on a separate car carrier and price it separately. Ask for the car rate on its own line. Your car will also need a no objection certificate from the Haryana RTO before it is re-registered in Karnataka.
